Why Orton Gillingham?

Orton Gillingham is a multi-sensory instructional approach to remediating deficits associated with Dyslexia related to weaknesses in decoding and spelling. It is structured, sequential, and cumulative. The Orton Gillingham approach was developed in the 1930's by neurologist Samuel T. Orton and psychologist Anna Gillingham. Reading tutors are certified teachers, Reading Specialists, Special Education Certified and trained in the Orton Gillingham method. Students who come to us for help have a wide range of disabilites including Dyslexia, ADD/ADHD, working memory deficits, and other disorders of written expression. We also work with children in prekindergarten and kindergarten who may have been identified as "at risk" for developing a reading or writing disorder.
